Distinguished Seminar in Robotics, Systems and Control

The seminar is organized by all IRIS professors: M. Chli, R. Gassert, M. Hutter, W. Karlen, R. Katzschmann, C. Menon, B. Nelson, R. Riener, and R. Siegwart.

ATTENTION: According to the current Corona Masterplan (v.12), we are allowed to teach the lecture in-​class. Depending on the travel restrictions of the lecturers or any other upcoming changes in the Corona measures, we will eventually switch to remote teaching again (via Zoom).

Lecture: Fall Semester (HS), Fridays, bi-​weekly, an hour online seminar starting 16.00.

Requirements: Students are required to attend all seven lectures to obtain credit. If a student must miss a lecture then attendance at a related special lecture will be accepted that is reported in a one page summary of the attended lecture. No exceptions to this rule are allowed. Course attendance confirmation is required.

Course Description:

This course consists of a series of seven lectures given by researchers who have distinguished themselves in the area of Robotics, Systems, and Controls. Students are required to attend all seven lectures to obtain credit. If a student must miss a lecture then attendance at a related special lecture will be accepted that is reported in a one page summary of the attended lecture (by email to Prof. Bradley Nelson). No exceptions to this rule are allowed. Course attendance confirmation is required.

Remote teaching:
If we have to go back to remote teaching at some point (either for all lectures or only for some), attendance will be monitored by your login to the online lecture tool. After each online lecture, you are required to send a max. 300 words summary of the talk to Brigitte Spors, Assistant to Prof. Bradley Nelson, by email within two weeks.

Learning Objectives:

Obtain an overview of various topics in Robotics, Systems, and Controls from leaders in the field. The detailed programme will be updated a few weeks prior to the start of the semester.
